According to the Intersex Society of North American (ISNA), intersexuality refers to a set of medical conditions that feature "congenital anomaly of the reproductive and sexual system." That is, intersex people are born with "sex chromosomes," external genitalia, or internal reproductive system that are not considered "standard" for either male or female.

The goal is to connect persons affected by these disorders, to educate the public and medical profession, and to offer emotional support and understanding to those facing the decisions involved with these disorders.
